My Top 7 Albums of 08

This blog post is brought to you by Zöe, and how if there was an exam in procrastinating, I’d tell you about it later.

Here are the top 7 albums that were released in 2008, that I have been listening to. Why 7? Because i’m THAT non-conformist to have 10. Not necessarily, the best, but the ones I’ve listened to the most and that remind me of this year (:

7. Music For An Accelerated Culture – Hadouken.
Released: May 5th

Okay, musically, I am not a fan of this album. I mean, let’s face it, it’s a bit of a stretch to even call it music, to be honest with you. It’s 90 % beeps, 10% ‘singing’. But, it reminds me of fun times with my favourite people, especially ‘Declaration of War’, which reminds me of a day in Alex park with everyone. (:

6. Oracular Spectacular – MGMT.

Released: March 10th

This really isn’t my usual type of music, but then again, my music is so varied I don’t really have a ‘type’. MGMT reminds me of Skins, mostly for my favourite track off the album – ‘Time To Pretend’. The music is catchy and easy to listen to. And it’s amazing. And pretty. Slightly creepy at times. Ahhh, just get the damn album.

5. The Script – The Script
Released: August 11th

Forced upon me by Mitch, and I fell in love with it, seriously. Every song on the album is gold, and it’s one of those I can listen to over and over. ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ gets me every single fucking time, as does ‘Breakeven’. I love it. That is all.

4. Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt – Augustana

Released: April 29th

I have nothing to say about this album, other than ‘Fire’.

3. IF – Mindless Self Indulgence
April 28th

I think MSI are the only band in the whole world, where it wouldn’t surprise me if the lyrics to a song consisted of  ‘It’s 3am, she won’t put out, let’s go make out with her friends’.
MSI are awesome, even better live, bring on January :D
And they’re surprisingly some of the nicest  people in the world.

2. You’re Awful, I Love You – Ludo.

LUDOOOOOOOOOOO.
Possibly my favourite band I’ve discovered this year. This album is so damn catchy. And it reminds me of people, which is always good.
Also, from the Broken Bride EP: Morning In May. As tEden would say, It’s good for your soul.

Admin Edit!: I found this too!

1. Okay, was this really a surprise?
The Glass Passenger – Jack’s Mannequin.
Released (technically :P): September 30th.

This album = Summer ‘08.
I’ve waited for it for 3 years, and yes, it was worth it.
I don’t have much to say about it, other than GET IT, GET IT NOW, OR REGRET IT. (:

And I really probably should do some revision now.
Or put the heater on.
And get a drink.
Maybe check my email again.
And Facebook.
And MySpace.
And Plurk.
And…
